Electric Field Distribution in HVDC Cable Joint in Non-Stationary Conditions

چکیده

Accessories such as joints and terminations represent weak points in HVDC cable systems. The DC field distribution is intimately dependent on the thermal conditions of accessory material properties. Moreover, there no available method to probe charge these conditions. In this work, non-stationary conditions, both thermally electrically, computed considering crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation different insulating materials (silicone, rubber, XLPE) for a 200 kV joint assembled same geometry. used, i.e., temperatures up 70 °C, with properties considered, dielectric time constant appears order or longer than one several hours. This indicates that physical phenomena need be considered modelling electric distribution. Both radial tangential distributions are analysed, focus given under stress cone ground side near central deflector high voltage joint. We show position maximum varies way not easy anticipate. Under cone, smallest obtained having highest electrical conductivity. results from shift towards which geometrical features produce weaker axial component field. At level deflector, it clear higher when mismatch between conductivity two insulations larger. addition, grows function stress. work shows precise data probing 3D.

A droplet in a stationary electric field

Water droplets on insulating material influence strongly the aging process of the material. The shape of the droplets signifies the state of the aging material. The present paper discusses a numerical procedure to calculate the droplet shape in an electric field generated by a constant voltage. A combined stationary solution of the droplet shape and the electric field is searched for. This lead...

Intensification of electrodialysis by applying a non-stationary electric field

Electrodialysis is an effective method of water desalination. However, the efficiency of the method is limited by the concentration polarization of the ion-exchange membranes. Applying an electric field with special pulse characteristics can diminish the effect of the concentration polarization. A theoretical analysis is carried out for galvanostatic and potentiostatic pulse regimes. The time d...

Field distortion by a single cavity in HVDC XLPE cable under steady state

Electric field distribution in high voltage direct current (HVDC) cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable at steady state is researched in this study. Under the condition that no cavity exists, equations describing the critical temperature difference for field reversal, and electric field distribution at steady state are proposed. When the cable with cavity is studied via the finite element anal...

Electric-field distribution in composite media

Spatial fluctuations of the local electric field induced by a constant applied electric field in composite media are studied analytically and numerically. It is found that the density of states for the fields exhibit sharp peaks and abrupt changes in the slope at certain critical points which are analogous to van Hove singularities in the density of states for phonons and electrons in solids. A...
